With Delphi’s emphasis on the importance of practical application of academics, apprenticeships offer students an opportunity to gain both experience and exposure in areas of interest. Upper School students who have chosen areas of specialization are expected to spend time “in the field,” whenever possible.
Apprenticeships are arranged through Delphi’s Department of Professional
Development and can be either off-campus or on-campus. The apprenticeship program allows students to try possible career choices in a real-world environment while at the same time learning skills and knowledge from professionals in the field.
Students have had apprenticeships with professionals in a wide variety of fields, including veterinary medicine, law enforcement, software development, network management, film production, performance arts, computer graphics, music production, politics, medicine, marketing, equestrian care, counseling and wildlife management.
By the time a student graduates from the Upper School, well over 1,000 hours will have been spent on projects, field activities and/or apprenticeships.
